New Managing Director of Iceland Chamber of Commerce

The appointment of Björn Brynjúlfur Björnsson as Managing Director of Iceland Chamber of Commerce has been finalized.

Björn, the former CEO and founder of Moodup, a software company focused on measuring workplace job satisfaction, brings a wealth of experience to the role. Previously, he founded additional software companies, served as an economic and operational consultant, Chief Economist at the Chamber, and a consultant at McKinsey & Company. He holds an MSc degree in Economics from the University of Oxford.

Björn assumed the role of Managing Director of the Chamber on May 1st, 2024.

Reflecting on the appointment, Björn stated: “I am eager to return to the Chamber of Commerce and contribute to positive changes in Icelandic society. Over the past few years, I’ve gained valuable insights as both an entrepreneur and consultant, and I believe these experiences will provide a solid foundation for this new chapter. The Chamber represents a diverse range of businesses, and I look forward to working with them, as well as with government bodies and other key stakeholders.”

Andri Þór Guðmundsson, the newly appointed Chairman of the Board of Trade, also shared his optimism: “We are thrilled to welcome Björn to the team. He has a deep understanding of the Chamber’s mission and a broad expertise in economic matters. His leadership will be pivotal in reinforcing the Chamber’s role as a catalyst for progress in Icelandic business and society.
